BurlyCon Sponsorship Opportunities
BurlyCon values accessibility and diversity. We appreciate the economic and opportunity challenges faced by some of our attendees. We want to make attending the convention as accessible as possible while continuing to operate viable organization. Therefore, we offer many options to help folks attend: low-price early bird passes, installment payment plans, pay-what-you-can volunteer positions, and scholarships.
The BurlyCon Scholarship Program is an important part of fulfilling our values and deepening our community outreach. It’s our goal to make BurlyCon accessible to everyone, and we’re committed to providing opportunities for those who might not otherwise be able to attend our conference. Scholarships help meet that goal by providing financial assistance to burlesque community members so they can attend the convention. The program funds come from internal budget allocations and generous donations from our benefactors and donors. Should an applicant not be awarded a scholarship, BurlyCon also offers financial aid in the form of volunteer opportunities and installment payment plans.

Each application is carefully considered by a diverse scholarship committee of BurlyCon directors and steering committee members. We weigh all factors presented in the application, including financial circumstances impacted by employment status, medical needs, and distance to travel to the convention; the potential gain the applicant would receive because of access to the convention; applicant’s distance from urban hubs; and what the applicant’s work and passion contributes to the larger burlesque community. We prioritize individuals who have experienced specific challenges building burlesque community.
We ask applicants to describe their burlesque journey and what they hope to achieve by attending BurlyCon, and tell us a little about themselves. We want to know what burlesque and the burlesque community mean to each applicant, and what they wish to bring to that community.
For 2019, we’re delighted to offer a total of six BurlyCon Scholarships - five Partial Scholarships and one Full Scholarship.
A BurlyCon Partial Scholarship covers the cost of your BurlyCon Registration, including access to all regular BurlyCon Weekend classes and events. This award does not include hotel, airfare, travel, or meals, and does not cover any class or materials fees for workshops, BurlyLabs, or Intensives.
A BurlyCon Full Scholarship covers the cost of your BurlyCon Registration (including access to all regular BurlyCon Weekend classes and events), and includes a hotel room shared with 3 BurlyCon staff members. This award does not include airfare, travel, or meals, and does not cover any class or materials fees for workshops, BurlyLabs, or Intensives.

Application opens March 1st at 12 pm PT, and close at March 31st at 5 pm PT.
No applications will be accepted after the deadline.
Notifications will be sent out by April 20th, 2019.
