BurlyCon is an annual community-oriented professional growth and educational organization for burlesque performers, producers, and those wanting to gain more experience within the burlesque community. Our aim is to further the current development and historical knowledge of this unique American art form, especially in light of burlesque’s resurgence worldwide. BurlyCon is committed to providing an affordable opportunity for performers of all levels to learn, grow, and develop their skills. 

So what will take place at BurlyCon? Workshops, panels, dance parties and more- almost everything except for a live burlesque show. There are already several huge national (and international) festivals in which performances play a central role. At all these events, participants want more time for networking, education, and social activities. Performers seek opportunities to focus on each other without the pressure of an impending competition or performance. BurlyCon was created to fill this need, and provides space for these opportunities and more. As such there are NO shows at BurlyCon. We do offer Peer Reviews which is an educational chance for some(lottery chosen) performers to workshop an act and gain feedback from an expert panel as well as their peers. However, this is not a competition and is the only ‘performance’ held at BurlyCon.

We are a small volunteer organization serving a diverse community of performers, artists, producers, and creatives.  Through our growth, we have created guidelines and policies in order to “be on the same page” and have viable formats for our behavior within the organization, as members of the greater burlesque community, and as an organization.  These are always works in progress and can be improved upon.  We always appreciate feedback as we grow and develop as your Burlesque Educational Resource. Who is behind the BurlyCon event? BurlyCon is a registered 501(c)3 non-profit organization. The Executive Director is Miss Indigo Blue. The Board of directors is Coco Lectric (President), Jo “Boobs” Weldon (Vice President), Red Delicious (Treasurer), Kristina Nekyia (Secretary), Miss Indigo Blue, Baby Doe, Jen Gapay, Ophelia Flame, and Sandy Beaches.

The event is organized by a volunteer steering committee, with members from all across the US (and a few from Canada). Our 2018 steering committee is led by Miss Indigo Blue, Lola Love, Red Delicious, Ri Ri Syn Cyr, Vixen Valentine and Fosse Jack. Learn more about them here!
